FAQ - Diesel - Glow Plug Quick-Test

Provided by Festus Hagen Click the image to open in full size.

Performing a Quick test using a Test Light
Quote:
To do a Test Light test of the glow plugs.

Unplug the GP
Connect one end of the test light to + battery
Touch the other end to the terminal on the end of the GP (where you unplugged the harness)

If it lights the chances are it's good.

This test is very susceptible to miss diagnoses and should only be used for a quick reference.

To do a positive test use a volt/ohm meter and test for continuity between the terminal and base.

Coolant additives are important in ALL Diesels.
