Real world gas mileage with the 6.2

#1 You can never have too much truck, liked the idea of a little more weight and stability compared to the 1/2 ton. May actually need more towing capacity in the future.
#2 Got p.o.ed with the slow release of the 2011 F-150's and wanted the max towing package with the towing mirrors without being forced into the Eco-Toot. Had originally planned on the 5.0 with the max tow package.
#3 I personally think the F-250 looks better, more truck and less glitz and glamour than the F-150.

Just ran a 389 mile trip on the highway oneway. at 70 mph. I got 13.5 mpg and as much as 14.8 mpg according to the trucks lie-o-meter. this was empty on realatively flat to rolling hills. The truck was in cruise and never downshifted at all.
I was impressed with the ride and the mpg, truck is a f-350, 6.2, 4x4, lariat, cc with 4.30 gears and 2000 miles on it. Truck is going to be used to haul a truck camper that will weigh around 3800lbs wet. I have been very happy and satisfied with my new Super Duty.

Thats pretty good with 4:30 gears!

There are several benefits to this. Room for future growth, heavy duty transmission, heavy duty axle, and in Minnesota where I live, the F350 is $650 less to license each year over 250's and smaller.

I guess the way you start driving your truck from day one would have some effect on your transmission strategy.
Anyone have any thoughts?

REAL WORLD MPG: Haven't reset my trip "B" since the day I bought it on 12-9-10 and it reads as today 10.9 MPG after 1800 miles. With 4.30 gears/ mostly two-lane 55 MPH driving with approx. 500 miles on the e-way at 70-75 MPH and no mods - that's real world no BS. Hand calcs confirm this. If you tow moderately, don't need the payload capacity and want MPG, wait for the ecotec. in the F-150. If you need the payload, don't care about MPG, and want a solid axle in a bada%& looking truck - get the super duty. Nuff said

Driving habit's are similar here... 30 miles round trip to work, with some city, then mostly 55 and then a short jaunt of 70 to complete my trip. Also have had a couple of long expressway trips... and dyno pulls! LOL! My "B" trip which I've never reset is currently at 13 MPG after 2900 miles.
I did stick some E85 in Friday just to see how bad my MPG would drop...
From what I've heard it's about a 20% reduction in MPG with E85... just wanted to test it for my own curiosity...

Been going lightly on the pedal this week and am getting 14.2 to and from work. Lead foot will yield 11.5-12.5.
That's up and down several hilly two lane back roads mostly in the country. Average speed for the 80 mile round trip is around 42 mph.
One day I hit reset going down hill off the gas just to see what it would read. It hit 99 mpg for a few seconds. th_carrot-vi.gif?t=1299573986

I tend to not get hung up on the mpg's alot though, that's why I bought a XR650L a few years back! I was finally able to get it out today after being in hibernation for the last 4 months. I get about 45mpg on that pig, and I won't lie, it's way more fun to drive than the SD!

I've been doing the same thing, haven't reset "B" since I drove it off the lot. 2200 miles later and I'm at around 10.5 or so (4.30's). I do quite a bit of idling in the mornings and my commute is about 6 miles at 70mph, then stop and go for another 6 miles.

Got a little 2 wheel gas sipper myself...
