460 carb kit ??

I have a 1976 460 with a Motorcraft 4 bl./D6UE KA and I am trying to find a carb rebuild kit for it. Is it a model #4350? This happens to be in an old motorhome and am hoping you guys can help point me in the right direction. I came here because I am sure there are more guys with 460's here I hope you don't mind. It also has an issue when it sits more than 2 wks. with not getting fuel. You put carb cleaner or starting fuild down it, it starts right up. If you start it every few days it fires right up. Do you think that is the carb draining down or fuel pump lossing prime ? Thanks for your help in this matter.

I run a 1979 salvaged 460 in a 1965 motorhome. I've never even seen the stock carburetor. My only suggestion is to contact NAPA. They seem to have just about everything. If that doesn't work, I can give you pointers on running the motor with a Holley 0-1850 carb. That's what I have.

As for hard starting after sitting, sounds very familiar. I have an old carbed motorcycle that does the same thing. With the carb tuned and engine timed properly now, I manage to get it to start without starter fluid most of the time. I have a manual choke.

I should also note that the Holley carb I mention is ubiquitous on ebay and readily rebuilt.

Yea I wish I was running a Holley but I have this stupid Motorcraft carb. And I did find a carb kit at NAPA. If I did spend so much on my e99 f350 I would like to a new intake and a holley onthe old motorhome. So you have a 1965 motorhome what kind of shape is she in?

Excellent. My dad bought it brand new. I got it in 1992. First trip, the old engine cratered and I put in the 460. I've done a lot of work on it over the years, fighting off the effects of age, including painting it a few years ago. I'll post pictures tonight and let you know.

I am looking forward to seeing it!!! I too got my motorhome from my dad he bought it new in 1976. I keep it due the family trips as a kid. Actually I was a teenager smoking in the bathroom and Mom was like "Eddie what are you doing in there !!" Now if I too can keep up with old age on the poor old girl.

Here's a link to a photobucket album of some pictures of my motorhome. It includes pictures of repairs I did to it. The best pictures of it today are at the end of the album. You'll see a picture of it before I repainted it.

Wow that looked like alot of work. A true labor of love. But it looks bada** it turned out really nice. I really like the old school dash. Is your dad still around to see how it turned out. I am sure he is really proud of the job you did. Do you any photos of the motor?

That is a real nice motorhome. The only thing I would of done was replaced all the fiberglass insulation with R-Max. An 1 1/2" of R-Max would of given you around the same R value as 4-5" of fiberglass.

That is a good point Craig. I am going to gut my 1976 holiday motorhome from the inside and I'll do that. That is a cool old motorhome.

I would check for a carb rebuilding shop in the area, and have them assemble a kit for you....you will not end up with extra parts, the parts will be of good 9not cheap) quality and actuall fit for your carb.

Hey BadDog, I added some photos of the engine in my old motorhome to that link I gave you earlier in this thread. You'll find some additional info you might find of interest along with some explanation notes. Just an FYI.
