95 maf 5.8 questions
I see alot of maf conversions with the 5.0 but none really on the 5.8w. My questions are is it possible to do the 5.8 maf conversion, what is it really affecting by doing it (will it help any), and if anyone knows what is needed to do it would be great. The truck is a 95 f250 351w c6 4x4 thanks for any input.

I converted a '69 Mustang with 351W (5.8L) from carburetor to EFI using parts available from Ford Motorsports. If still available, it's basically the stuff Ford used on the 5.8L-equipped Mustangs they sold NEW as "R" (race) models in the 90s.
You would need 24 LB/HR injectors (yours are proly smaller, not sure), and air-inlet duct such as used on Mustangs, and the appropriate computer. Ford sold all this as a kit back then, intended for use on 5.0L HO engines to match the EFI system they provided on SVO Cobras from the factory.
What I don't know, is whether Ford EVER used MAF on a 5.8L in trucks....if they did, that gear would be your easiest bet to use (but I doubt they did that....).....someone else here might know. A call to Ford Parts, if you can reach a good parts guy, and get him interested in listening, might work for you.

MAF conversions are roughly the same on these trucks regardless what engine you have, and in your case you have better options because you don't have a computer controlled transmission. The conversion itself really doesn't improve much on a stock motor but MAF is a more adaptable system that will better handle future engine upgrades.

351s did come factory with maf in 96 but are hard to come by, up here anyway, not a hard swap on your truck but if you take the ecu and wiring harness from a 5.0 it should work with minor modification. For parts stuff like cam upgrades, heads, most things really maf is good for and tunable is the best part.

With a c6 it should yes, the 351's don't have a knock sensor like the 302's but I've heard on this site you can just leave it unplugged. Another thing is you will have to see where the module on the car is, as some are on the distributor and I believe in your truck it is on the fender up by the brake booster. If on the car it is on the distributor simply go to a junk yard and find a 351 from 87-91 (I think with the newer body style they moved it?) But should be easy to find. Another thing is your air filter set up, any truck with mass air will bolt up, such as a 5.0 with maf.

The fox MAF setup will work on a truck but you'll have to remove the necessary wires from the donor harness and overlay it on the truck harness, primarally because the EEC sits on opposide sides of the vehicle on cars and trucks so the wiring will need to be reorganized. There will also be some wires to move in the truck harness and you will be adding pins to the EEC connector for the extra wires but the connector comes apart which makes this pretty easy. Incidentally a 5.0HO EEC will run a truck 5.8 perfectly.
