2007 F 350 6.0L Service
whats up guys new to diesel community in every respect. love the truck, 07 6.0L dually 4x4 tank! previous owner wasnt sure of the service schedule on it so i did an oil change recently with the help of this site (thanks). now i am looking to change the 2 fuel filters, any help is appreciated especially with the lower one. does the lower filter refer to the HFCM or is that a separate thing all together. last question (maybe i included too many in one topic) does anyone use diesel kleen or recommend something similar THANKS AGAIN

Hi Stroker, welcome to the forum and congrats on the new truck! I use Diesel Kleen every other tank and have 107K on my 2003 6.0L. Never had a problem.
To change the fuel filters, use a 5 or 6mm 90 degree allen headed wrench and remove the HCFM plug. This will drain the HCFM, so be sure to have a catch can under it. It also helps to have only a quarter tank or so of fuel. About a quart of fuel and water will drain out. Now, using a 35mm (might be 36mm, I will have to go to the garage and check) socket, remove the HCFM cap and the filter will come right out. The old filter pops right out of the cap. Installation of the new filter and O-ring is the reverse of removal. All in all, the job should take five or so minutes. Be sure to get genuine Motorcraft filters only, and do a search under my name, you will find a nice little how to that I did. Should help a lot. Good luck!

Here ya go, lots of pics and everything. By the way, do yourself a favor and get the brass HCFM drain plug upgrade. It will run around $16 from your local dealership. Makes draining the HCFM a lot cleaner and easier in the future.
