IMO it is the Union's causing the Co. to go overseas. It's just cheaper to get it from there then to have it made here in the US. I don't like it either but think it's true. The Union's had their place 20 years ago (my grandfather and dad both retired as Union guys) but now I think they are there just to make money, which raises wages, and in turn raises car prices.

I live in Detroit and the car company's employ a lot of people here and do help the city. But I think they should eliminate the Unions, and I don't think the quality would go down either.

Just my 2 cents.

April 6, 2011

Ford Motor said a Kentucky truck plant that was closed this week to conserve parts would reopen on Monday. A Ford plant in Belgium that was shut also is scheduled to resume work next week.

Ford is still dealing with a shortage of a metallic pigment that comes from a plant in the evacuation zone around Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. Ford, which has stopped taking orders for vehicles to be painted “tuxedo black” and is building fewer models in several red hues, is studying whether it can get a substitute from another supplier, according to a company spokesman, Todd Nissen.

When I called customer relations Monday, they allowed the status hasn't changed since the order was received. The lady escalated the case upstairs and told me I would hear from somebody in two business days. I haven't heard anything yet but still hoping. On the rumor front the plant (KTP) might be shut down next week for Easter???!!
Best Regards,
Russ

Here is an update on my pickup order:

2011 F-350 Crew Cab, 6.2, 4x4, Dark Blue Pearl Metallic

Ordered on 1/26/11

First build date: 3/21/11

Second build date: 4/4/11

Stopped and talked to dealer today. Updated build date for the vehicle is now 4/25/11. Dealer was very confident that this date was going to stick since there have been three different allocations on this vehicle and it looks like they have all been released as of now.

So, we will see what happens. With the way shipping has been going, I bet it will be the middle of May at the earliest before I see my vehicle.

Glad I'm not in a hurry.

12-14 weeks would put delivery past the shutdown/retooling for 2012...not likely. They're building nearly 1000 trucks a day. They have approximately 47,000 orders in the pipe.

Well i just joined the waiting game crowd! Ordered today 4-18, I've heard anything from 6 up to 12 weeks, so the wait begins.

Also wondering how youguys are getting your info/updates, do you rely on the dealer or can you track it on your own???

First off, ask the dealer for a copy of the DORA, then you can take the order guide from here and compare what you think you ordered to what was actually ordered. Hopefully there's no mistakes but you can still change the order at this point. Then, once you've confirmed everything's good, pest your dealer every Friday for an update (getting your VIN is your next step). Once you get a VIN, you can look up your window sticker about a week or 2 before your actual build date. You can contact Ford customer service at anytime for an update. I went this route as my dealer wasn't the best at providing updates. Sadly, I don't have the number handy anymore but look around the 6.2 forum, I've mentioned it a dozen times.

Congrats on the order, what trim/gears/etc did you go for?

EDIT- here's the links for the window sticker. Looks like you have a couple of options these days:

ryanguy76,
2000SB knows the ropes. FCS ph# 1-800-392-3673 call friday afternoons. You could also try Ford marketing- they don't have as much information but are as helpful as can be at 1-800-335-1357 or 1-800-334-4375.
regards,
Russ

Very nice! I can't get over how much I love that color, been wanting it on an SD ever since they came out with that color ('03 maybe?) and finally got it on the new truck. I'm going to clay bar my truck this weekend, then put on some synthetic wax with a layer of carnuba wax on top, can't wait to see how it turns out.

You can go to your dealer today if you wanted and request a copy of the DORA (dealer order receipt acknowledgement). It's the build sheet that your dealer sends to the factory when you ordered it, takes them 2 seconds to print it off. Between that and the order guide, you'll have some good reading for a while.
