99 5.4L 4x4 F150 turns over but wont start.
So hang on here we go. Drove my truck to work parked it and went to work. At lunch went to go to the store and found out that my truck turned over but wouldn’t start. So thanks to my Friends Denny & Deon at CCR my Truck is home and here is the list of what I’ve done.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
<o></o>
1) Tested the fuel delivery system PWR replaced Relays for fun (PCM & Fuel Pump).I Hotwired the Fuel Pump straight to the batterie and got 40psi at the test port on the Fuel Rail. Oohh Ya I did test the Inertia switch too.<o></o>
<o></o>
2) Borrowed two different OBD II Scanners and have not been able to connect to the truck despite testing the fuse for the cigarette lighter/Data port and replacing it any way, and there is a check Engine soon light that stays light after the ignition dose its thing so the PCM is getting Power.<o></o>
<o></o>
3) Made the mistake of assuming that someone in the Portland Metro area could test the PCM out of the Truck but that doesn’t seem to be the case & Ford wants me to pay to toe the Truck in and then pay $450.00 to test out the PCM in the Truck #$*! That, I don’t think so SCOOTER. I can replace the thing for $200. After I pout the PCM back in the Truck and thought just maybe it reset being powered down for a while, I tried to scan the truck again. This is when I noticed that not only do I have the Check Engine Light, but the Odometer reeds --------, and the Theft light doesn’t go out after the Ignition sequence is finished<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" oreferrelative="t" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><vath o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f"></vath><o:lock aspectratio="t" v:ext="edit"></o:lock></v:shapetype><v:shape style="WIDTH: 18.75pt; HEIGHT: 13.5pt; VISIBILITY: visible; mso-wrap-style: square" id=Picture_x0020_1 type="#_x0000_t75" alt="0" o:spid="_x0000_i1026"><v:imagedata src="file:///C:\Users\RONAND~1\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\ 01\clip_image001.gif" o:title="0"></v:imagedata></v:shape>. <o></o>
<o></o>
4) Spoke to a very nice Ford Master Mechanic who sued wow that is a hard one you know how they say it’s not Rocket Science WELL THE PATS SYSTEM IS. His best thought was the Dash Cluster. He also thought it could be the ring around the ignition and may be the key and I have only owned one of those for the 10 years I have owned the truck.<o></o>
<o></o>
Now that that is out in the open I am in a NASA kind of mood, anyone have thoughts that may be of some use PLEASE! <v:shape style="WIDTH: 60pt; HEIGHT: 13.5pt; VISIBILITY: visible; mso-wrap-style: square" id=Picture_x0020_2 type="#_x0000_t75" alt="0" o:spid="_x0000_i1025"><v:imagedata src="file:///C:\Users\RONAND~1\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\ 01\clip_image002.gif" o:title="0"></v:imagedata></v:shape><o></o>

Do you have a spare key for the truck?
Have you tried the other key?
Do you have a remote start in your truck?
My keys lost the programing one time and the truck wouldn't start.
Took it to the dealer. They sold me a new battery(don't think I needed one) (it was only a year or two old). Reprogrammed my keys. Truck started.
Then they told me I needed a new transducer and they had to order it.
Since the truck was starting , I told them No. And I haven't had a problem since...lol

Thank You I don’t have a spare key I have only had the one key the 11 years I’ve owned the truck. I did go to the local Ford dealer to have a new key cut yesterday But they Reassured me that wasn’t the problem due to the odometer reading ------- they felt that the problem was the PCM and I tend to agree with them because the odometer, theft light, check engine light are all on or not working and I cant get the OBD II scanners to connect. This Ford Dealer Sued they would diagnose my exact problem for $95.00 I thought that was far more reasonable than the $450.00 that North Side Ford who is much farther away told me but they were supposed to be the Ford Truck experts in Portland OR. I think I will have my buddy tow me the 5 blocks to the local shop and pay them. A new key is $80.00 and a remained PCM is $199.00 on line I don’t want to just guess. I will post the resolution when I find it. Then hopefully some one else won’t have to go through all of this. I was also told it could be the Instrument cluster and those are $115.00 to $200.00 used and there are none in Portland OR.
