96 F150 efi to carb?
i know there are alot of posts on this supject. here is my situation.
i have a rebuilt 4.9L bored out .060, molly rings, a stage one rv cam, and a port/polish job done on the head . put it back in and she is still gutless.
now that being said i wasn't expecting 200 hp out of the upgrades but i did expect to beable to keep up to my buddies 95 with 300k+ same everything on the two trucks, gears trannys motors and body are all matched. the only diffrence is his is odbI and i have ODB2.
now i found two options so far. carb it with a stock carb. or go out and get a new intake manifold and get a 390 cfm 4 barrel carb. and rip the emissions out.
any thoughts? iv also read on removing the emissions out and most people say if you have odb2 don't.
ohhh ya i also have the 5 speed manual tranny so taking the computer out is no big deal. well except the whole airbag thing but i can deal with that.

I'm in the process of doing a carb swap on my 90 because the maf swap is too much wiring for me, but its a lot of work, need a fuel pressure regulator, an HEI distributor, have to do work to get your gauges to work, and you have to get your fuel pumps to run, which can be done by leaving the ecu in or wire them to your switch and to your ignition. A lot of work and I'm sure you could get the tune for cheaper than all that, an intake and a carb for it.

the other thing i have to say to that is you may be right there are things i'm not writing down here due to the lack of knolage. i do admit i don't really know too much about the ODB2 system. i am a cab man, give me a timing light a flat head screwdriver and i can tune it no problem.
some of the things i didn't mention is i did not replace any o2 sensors, temp or oil sensors.
and i am looking into buying a good ODB2 code reader/ programmer.

on those swaps it is a big "no no" to use a fuel pressure regulator on a efi fuel pump. i have tried it and the car would not run woth a dam. ever since then i'v been useing a holly blue bottle fuel pumps. they usually come with a low pressure regulator. granted these where v8's and they can get thirsty. on the same hand it was a 390 cfm carb on the 5.0L. i read that the 300 runs good with a 390cfm carb.
well that's my quick 2 cents on that subject back to work now
