Engine Swap can i keep the tranny??

I have an 88 250 4 wheel drive with 4.9 6 cylinder manual 5 speed can I mount my tranny to a 351w? I have been finding mixed answers I was wondering if any one had experience?

It depends if your 250 is an HD. The light duty 250 has the mazda tranny. The heavy duty has the zf. The mazda will be destroyed after awhile. The zf is a great tranny it will hold up fine.

The 351w was available in F-150s with the M5OD (mazda) from the factory. The trans will hold up to the 351 just as well as it will the 300-6. The ZF would be better though.
