Highboy steering conversion, do i have the right box?

Im going to be doing the highboy steering conversionon my 76 before to long but i need to know if i have the right box. This box came with some other parts when i got the truck, it looks right but im not sure. Second question is what else do i need? Just a drag link from a 78/79? What about the steering lines, are they a direct swap for the new box? Thanks for your help.

That is the box I used to convert mine, boxed in the frame inside, drilled the boxing then put sleeves inside the boxing to keep from crushing the frame.
Again yes that is also the box I used as well so it can work with mods done.
I had new lines made for mine so I do not know if your lines will work.

To be specific, what draglink do i need? I think its one from a 78 or 79 250-350 but i could be wrong? Does anyone have a length? This would help me identify which one to get.

The drag link would be the one for the 78/79 F250 4x4 or 79 F350 4x4.

Thanks for the link Bucks, and the point of the conversion is all highboys had the hydro assist steering that is known for being bad, it feels like i dont really have power steering. You can upgrade to the 78/79 box and eliminate all the old highboy steering components.

Driving a highboy with power steering is the greatest thing since sliced bread! I ended up using a mid 80'sdodge 4x4 steering box cause i didn't want to be cutting or welding on my frame but like i said driving with power steering is a dream!

I have done a few of them with the 77.5-79 box like you have. After getting the frame cut out so the box fits up in there I hook the steering shaft and the drag link up to the box & steering arm so it's all in there, hooked up. Then position the box for the best fit. Then take it all back out and finish up the frame. That way no problems will creep up on you as you are hooking up the shaft and drag link.

Hi AKFORCETEN, I am interested in more info on using the dodge box on my truck. Did you get the box to column linkage from the Dodge also? Directions/part list would be awesome. My member ID is 71 F250, thanx, Kent
