So Dubbs,
What caused the tranny to heat up? Was it the tires alone do you think, or the combo of the tires and slow trail driving? I'm about to go 37's, and I wanna prevent mine from heating up on me?

I would've suggested replacing your steering box with a West Texas Offroad unit that was tapped for a hydraulic assist cylinder. That stock box by itself is going to have a hard time motivating those wheels.

It probably was a combo of age( 200,000kms) stress from thr tires and climbing rocks and no air flowing to the cooler. I am going to re-locate the cooler up to the top part of the rad instead of down at the bottom behind my bumper

I am looking into hydro assist now...and west texas wants you to ship your box down to get tapped...so i needed to buy a new box anyways..besides, the ex is my DD and i needed it fixed fairly quickly

Went for a little trip out riding stable road to try some mud for the first time....but found out the hard way I had a sticky hub and it wasn't locking my front axle.

.

Of course it started working after I got out..haha.

So we decided to try the new rock ledge trail we are working on..Turns out the ledge is getting pretty high as I hit my driveshaft yoke on the ledge and it sheared all the Ujoint strap bolts off in the pinion yoke.

Sorry my fat head got in the way....I limped it home in FWD and alot of winching

We went wheeling later in the week, and I attempted to climb the rockface in Devils Gulch

Dubbs,

a few words of advise from personal experience.

1. Driveshaft joint straps are unsuitable for wheeling and will continue to fail until you upgrade to the U bolts style. This conversion can be done on a drill press if you have a machinist vise and some skills. But is better left to a machine shop or give Jess from high angle drive line in paradise ca a call. He will have machined yokes ready to ship at a reasonable price.

Tell Jesse that camo sent ya, he will hook ya up.

2. The stock front hubs are not suitable for any real offloading. Snowy roads at best. Buy a set of warn premium hubs. ( I broke 6 stock hubs before I finally switched and have never broken a warn hub )

Your rig looks sweet, stoked to see ya wheeling the X

Thanks for the tips

1. I am looking into the ubolt style joint straps...and I am a machinist

2. I already have warn hubs...they were just in need of servicing

Then machining your yokes to use ubolts should be a snap for you.

If you need to know the correct ubolt part number jive Jesse a call, he is always happy to help.

Matt makes a pretty decent ram setup, I havent seen to many people using his setups on daily drivers as much as trail rigs however since you are running boggers I am guessing you don't drive your truck on the on the street to much.

What psi and gpm did you have your pump set up at ?
