If you are just trying to get it together for next year, I would pull it in the stock class to see how everything works, and then focus on building it up after that. Not saying that it wouldn't do good, but without doing any mods to the engine (especially a 79 460), you would probably be dissapointed with your results in a Street Mod class. Alot of the trucks nowadays that pull in the Street Mod classes have more stuff done to them then most people think.

Lol, oh no, no, I'm building it alrite, just not messing with building a 400, I just meant as far as adapting to a different block goes, I prolly won't build it much, just cam and other bolt on's (intake, carb, ign. etc.) thats why i ran into this post for building a 460, just looking for some cheap ways to do it to, i don't know if I'll mess with porting the head or not, might just save some money for an aluminum with bigger valves and when I have the money for that go 514 with it at the same time when i have it apart agian, I figured just have bolt on's and finish it off, I guess it just depends how the bearings look, I may just do it all right away, depends how much money my buddies wanna through in, then I'll get it balenced and go all out. As far as the truck goes, I'll just make my own ladder bars and blocks and just go with the axles it has till they break and then go bigger as it falls apart, lol

Up here in Ont CANADA we have a couple classes that are close to what you run, circuit stock, cube limit of 526 but must run cast in/out, put a damper on things for hp production, our other class super stock, is a little more forgiving, 526, iron block/heads, DOT tires, factory installed driveline with a bunch of safety stuff needed, I'm building a mill for alcohol, (allowed) using 430 lincoln heads, with these, forged dished pistons, compression is 17.8:1 ports outflow the cj heads, I got 425 on the intake, 310 on the exhaust, secret is 0 valve shrouding, valve sizes are 2.25/1,72 by the way, I have less than 5 grand in the whole thing

Hi everyone

this will be my first post here

i do engines for drag/and truck pulling, and the stock iron head classes

one of the best cast iron engine that i have done and dynoed (cust wallet) 468ci
iron head dove,4150 carb, cast iron head, with cast iron manifolds dynoed 550hp
thru mufflers.

same engine w/headers 600
with 4500 dom 640 hp

this was a drive in puller, didnt need a trailer,

it you do a 514 theres 2 diff ways , a 4.140 or 4.150,like the above said, but this needs to be at .080 bore a 6.700 or a 6.800 will work depending on wrist pin,or comp height

or a 4.300 stroke which it a .030 bore< this works good for c9 or non cj scj blocks
