Leaking Bronco glass
My 95 Bronco has a water leak problem.
The side windows of the top leak @ the lower leading edge on both sides. Before attempting to fix it, I thought I'd see if anyone has had the same problem and how did you fix it?
I'm going to try a little silicon under the rubber seal before I send it to the glass shop to be fixed properly.
Also the tailgate leaks water through the access door. Is the long glass seal at the tailgate glass suppose to be water tight?
Any input?

Side windows leak? Thats a new one on me. The tailgate problem is quite common especially if the outer weatherstripping is old or dry-rotted. Mine has brand new weatherstripping and still gets a small amount of moisture on the inside of the tailgate itself but I've checked it out and its from spray off the rear wheels coming up through the drain holes. Either way the inspection cover should have a certain amount of seal to it. Mine was covered in that sticky tar-like stuff at each of the bolt holes and around the edges. I can only assume to help keep the moisture out and vibration noise down.

I have had my access panel off for a while cause my buddy was making a template for a new one. It had rained quite a bit and I noticed my carpet was wet! I guess it leaked in through the weather stripping and cause the cover wasnt there, dripped on the carpet. Sound correct? Let me know. How much does the tailgate stripping run for?
thanks

When you do decide that its time to break down and buy a new T-gate. The undercoating idea is a good one. I had mine Rhino-lined inside the shell and on the interior facing along with the lower half of the exterior. All the same grey to match my interior and the grey panels through the body on the outside.
I bought a complete set of weathestripping from a local Ford dealer for around $120-130. That included the inner and outer window stripping and the two rubber-over-steel blocks at each end of the T-gate.

yeah.... when I get some money for a t-gate I will DEFINITELY go with the rhino-type lining. I have thought about ripping out my carpet and just doing the whole interior like that... but I would start with just the t-gate.
you said that you put it on the outside as well? How does that look. Isnt the lining a rough texture?
do you have any pics of what it looked like when you were done?
Thanks for the help and advice. I will definitely do that.... First I have to come up with some money...
Donations can be made through paypal... Email or IM me for account info!

Treehugger,
If I can get my hands on a camera, I'll take some of my T-gate. My '92 has the two tone paint scheme with black as the primary color and dark grey as the inset color on the sides. Being an XLT it has the brushed aluminum trim that fills the mid-sectin of the T-gate. Only the bottom three or four inches of the gate that show below this trim have the Rhino-lining as a visible finish. So the only portion of the gate that is actually painted is the upper section just below the window. And yes, the Rhino-lining is a textured finish not unlike the tops on our Bronco's.
