Are you sure it's the pump and not the STC fitting at the back of the pump? That's the most common failure, not the pump itself.

Honestly, I have know idea....I have had this problem for awhile now..Run it, gets hot, cut it off, it wont start back....Crank & Crank & Crank, no start....Last couple of times towed it to the garage got ready to work on it just as hunch turn key, truck fired right up.. FICM checks out fine, batteries check out fine, I am down to I have no clue, just reading to see what else i can put new on it.

Classic STC fitting problem or high pressure oil system leak. When the oil gets hot it thins out and you don't get enough high pressure oil pressure to crank. After it cools down some the oil gets thick and you can crank the truck. Do a search for STC and air test. The STC fitting kit is ~ $50. Labor to install it is quite a bit more--usually about $1400 depending on your locality. If you were close to me I'd do it for $800.

You should take it to a repair shop that fully understands to 6.0 Powerstroke and has a good bit of experience with them!

Will this kit replace the STC fitting or is this for something all together different?

I suppose there is no way to know if the upgrade has been done without pulling the cover? I should have checked when I did the EGR/engine coolers!
If I do have the turbo off again can I lift the HPOP cover without pulling the intake manifold, or are the turbo pedestal bolts under the manifold?

you can get the cover out with just pulling the trubo. its a bit of a pain to do it that way.

...but a lot quicker than having to pull the intake as well! Thanks for the quick response.

Is that a re-usable o ring under the cover?

I dont know about quicker either way take me about the same amout of time. the risk involed in doing it with the intake on is droping a bolt dwon in the rear cover of the engine. that sucks.
I would not reuse the pump cover gasket. there is a blue o-ring on the pump that can be reused if needed and undamaged.

Getting off work at 8am, today is the day the truck comes off the trailer and goes into the garage. I hope by this afternoon it is apart and waiting to go back together tuesday when I get home with the parts.....

I posted the other day of a crank, crank, crank and No start after the truck was warm. Everyone leaned towards the SCT. Went out this morning after 36 plus hours and still no start. I hooked up the programmer read the codes and got: 0261,0264,0267,0270,0273,0276,0279,0282,2614. In saying that, could it be the FICM or even the Cam Shaft Sensor with the 2614 code, headed to check voltage as soon as the help gets here. This issue has happened several times, as in 4, but usually always starts back after 12 hours or so, and always checks out good on the voltage, checked 47 to 48 volts as always....
