Help! My truck is using water??

My truck was low on water, so I put some in. Next day was low again. Took it to the dealer and they put a new hose on it. Didn't like that because no water on the ground. So I took off on my trip to Key West. Notice the eat gauge going up so I stopped. Water low again, put more in. Had to do that every 100 miles. Called the dealership and they haven't called me back yet. Anyone had any problems like this? Thanks Derek....51,000 miles

you are probably needing EGR coolers or the EGR valve is seeping coolant. I take it that we are talking 6.4 here right?

Running low like that is very dangerous and leads to cavitation. Any white smoke while driving? How are your regens.

Have you looked at your tail pipes? Wet, clean, black?

CHECK YOUR OIL!!!!! You could have a bunch of coolant in there due to front cover cavitation.

Yes 6.4

Thanks for your reply.....seems to be cleaning the exhaust alot. Runs great as also. The tail pipe is not different...black and dry. I have Banks on it, so I can read the temp. Just stop when it get over 212 and put a gallon in it. You helped me when my truck was new and over heating. They put a radiator in it but that didn't help, then new radiator caps, then they found the real problem...the thermos were broke. My truck is a Job 3,,,love it but think I am going to order a 2012. Going to the dealer up in Daytona if I can make it..lol

my guess then is because of the orginal problems I would almost be there was some caviatation and now that is where the coolant is going. Problem is the only way to check is to pull the water pump.

That is the most likely place for the leak.

They can pressure test the coolant system on the truck before any work is performed.

How is your oil level?

Bull sh__

Dealer just called and said it was a bad senor and they would fix it for $777.00. I told them OK if they can tell me why the senor would cause the truck to use water. I have put over ten gallons of water in it in two days. They said they will call me back.........

So maybe one of the EGT sensors shut it down...but does not explain the water as you said.

I would wait just a bit longer on the 6.7 myself.

Sign up for Good Sam RV road service. Great program for us that travel with TT or 5er's.
