My intercooler has been beat up with the rocks from the roads here. It has to be replaced. I am going to build a shield for the new intercooler, however I need to replace the factory one! What is a good replacement? Later I would like to get a programmer, and exhaust system.

I think Spearco makes one. Seen em on a few trucks in diesel power mag.

 

spearco and banks both make one.

Nothing bad reported on either.

 

The stock cooler is about the same price, I am goling aftermarket!

I have the Banks intercooler. Works very well for me. AFE also has an intercooler called the Blade Runner. Banks is the least $$, followed by the AFE. Spearco is the highest $$.

Anybody have any thoughts on sticking a rock guard (screen) in front like the big trucks do.
I was thinking about it but got to worrying about disrupting airflow through the 55,000 coolers up front. I would assume it would cut down on air volume a bit and as sensitive as our engines are........................?

 

Between the Spearco , Banks, ,Afe which is the best , I have seen Spearco is the most expensive , but does it produce that much more ? Also is there a difference between the turbotechniqes and the Spearco ?

seems like as long as you didn't put anything too restrictive up there you should be fine.(some type of expanded steel maybe?)

 

mine is getting beat up pretty good too. But I have no problems so I am gonna run mine as long as I can.

Try some screen across the back of the grill. You may need to use the metal screen.
