I Dont know how this can happen in the first week of ownership, but I have a 2011 ford f250. Today after trying to put my truck into 4 wheel drive it shows a message of check 4x4 and a small wrench icon pops up next to the 4x4 High light.

Any ideas whats goin on here guys?

I really dont want to have to go to the dealer already.

I'm getting the same thing. it seems to work if I shut the truck off and restart. I live in alaska and haven't had a chance to try it in a warm climate. I heard something pop around the automatic locking hubs. my guess is something is freezing in place as we drive and needs to sort of break free. then again I could be way off.

 

so I finally got my truck in to find out what the deal with this was and it ended up being the electric 4wd transfer case linkage motor had some points internally that were stuck closed. they were able to pull a code off of the truck and figured it out. the shop swapped it out for me since it was under warranty. in and out in about a day. nothing to tough it sounded like.
