Diesel Machine Shop in Baltimore ?

Anyone have a good reference for a machine shop in the Baltimore, MD area (preferably on/near the west side of town) that has experience with the 6.0 cylinder heads ?

I'll be pulling the heads on my 2005 6.0 to install studs, and wanted to get the heads decked and checked out before re-installing.

Also, I would assume a good valve job would be in order as well ? I've got 130K miles and figured it might be a good idea ? I don't read much about valve jobs on the forum, but there doesn't seem to be any reason why the 6.0 wouldn't respond positively to a good 3 angle valve job - is there?

TIA............Gary

Might want to give Maryland Diesel Performance a call. Not exactly sure where they are located, but they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give them a call.

So does anyone have an opinion on doing a valve job while the heads are off. Is it worthwhile ?

Hey Gary, Apple Ford in Columbia did my studs/oil cooler/EGT cooler and I was plenty satisfied. Mine was under warranty and they only charged me for the installation of the studs. I think they did good work! Just don't let MIKE, the service writer talk you into the expensive cleaning service!

Thanks for all the good suggestions.....and I do tke the truck to Apple Ford for dealer work and to buy parts. They've been great to work with.

I was planning to do the removal and replacement work myself, and was just looking for a machine shop to deck the heads...check for cracks...do valve job...etc.

Any suggestions ?

In case it would be of help to anyone else out there, I was able to find a machine shop in Baltimore that specializes in the 6.0 head issues.

Despite their name they are a full service machine shop and have done hundreds of the 6.0 heads for individuals as well as performance shops, dealers and other enthusiasts in the area.

They are fully equipped to do it all..... Hot tank, deck heads, crack check, install new injector tubes, do valve job, install valve guides...etc.

Doug's Welding (I know; the name is wierd)
