Just picked up my first 55' F100 and need a lil help

I am planning on installing a Mustang II front end with power steering. The truck came without a motor and transmission and I want to put a fuel injected 302 or 351 in it with a T5 transmission. Problem is the truck was an automatic. I googled converting to a 5 speed but found near nothing for ideas. One guy went with a hydrolic setup but I need help on pedal ideas. Anyone have pics, ideas, or write-ups that I may have over looked?

For your problem with pedals, I would just find the mounting brackets for the stock ones and go from there. It should be just a bolt in for the pedals and then decide on how you will either mechanically or hydraulically operate your clutch.

I would say that a hydro clutch may be initially complicated but its probably easier than trying to figure out how exactly you are going to fab/fit the mech clutch in.

Post a "need to buy" ad here on the FTE classifieds. There are several people here that have converted to automatics. If they moved the master cylinder to the firewall, they may have the pedal assembly you need.

Hey there, congrats on the truck and good luck. I have a 55 too and am putting in a 302. I was initially thinking about a t5 but I received feedback from FTE that I may lose or not be able to sit three in my truck (told wife it is a family truck) That may not be ur concern but jut wanted to share. Good luck again. People here are awesome. I mysel am wondering how I am going to do pedals for my AOD but will wait till I finish installing my IFS to worry about that.

That is a possibility but the T-5 is an interesting piece. If the shifter doesn't fit or is too far back you can change over to a S-10 tail shaft that moves the shifter forward. There are kits for this.

^^^Yeah I found a shop that rebuilds tranmission and I am picking up a 95 Mustang GT transmission for $250(new synchros, fresh seals) and he said he will swap over a S10 tail shaft for the cost of the tail shaft.

I have the set up that you are talking about in my gallery. I used stock pedals and parts from a donor Nissian B2200 truck to be exact that had a slave and master cylinder that was perfect for this type of set up. Total cost about $25 and some bracket fabrication.
