TPS Install and adjust on AOD
Ok guys, having a few problems with the TPS on my 91 5.0 with the AOD tranny. Transmission doesnt shift when cold, and sometimes even when warm, so I decided to try the TPS before I shell out the money for a rebuild. Anyhow, pulled the throttle body off, put the new TPS on and tried adjusting per the manual. Problem I am having is that I sont see how I can rotate the TPS to adjust the voltage. It has two screw holes and that is the only position it can be mounted in. What am i doing wrong? Is the complete sensor supposed to rotate, or just the inside of it, or am i going about it the wrong way completely? If it is supposed to rotate, how far, like 1/16 of an inch is all the play i have in it, and I dont think that is correct. When testing the two wires I am getting a reading of 5 volts with the throttle in the idle position. Could it be a PCM problem, or just me? Would love to get this thing shifting right asap, only gave 150 for the truck and it runs great except fot this problem. Also, could the shifting problem be related to something else? I adjusted the TV cable already and it seems to be in the proper position. Thanks in advance for any help ya'll can give me, sorry for writing a book, just trying to be thorough.

well the tps isnt going to affect the transmission
for the simple fact that the only think on the throttle body that connects to the transmission is the TV cable and the wires are reverse lights and neutral safety switch
so if you have that cable adjusted properly then its something else...
when was the last time the fluid and filter was changed

YouTube - Ford AOD TV cable adjustment here is a way to adjust the TV cable (originally posted by Conanski).
Hitokori is right, no computers or electronics involved.
The TV valve may be sticking or the cable. Make sure the cable is good and properly adjusted.
I think I also would be inclined to drop the pan, fit a new filter, drain the torque converter and refill with fresh fluid and see if that helps.
