Exclamation Throttle sticking

It seams as if my throttle is sticking. The truck rev's will stay up like the cable is not releasing back. It will do it when I am driving down the road and even when I'm coming to a stop. I'll be slowing down to a stop and the engine will rev up for a few seconds and then slowly come back down. Sometimes the only way for me to get the revs back down is to turn the truck of and restart. I saw a posting on this site for the 98 rangers that are manual having this issue. My truck is an automatic. Any suggestions??

I've had this type problem with my 99 4.0L.
Check & maybe try pulling & cleaning the IAC with a plastic safe spray cleaner like CRC QD, or MAF sensor cleaner. Cleaning may not last, it didn't for me & is probably why Ford recommends replacement, but cleaning was a good trouble shooting step for me.

BTW, Welcome to FTE.

Check the Idle air control valve. Easiest way, is to start the truck and unplug it. If the truck wants to die its working. If there is no change that could be the problem. Also check for vacuum leaks.
