Magnaflow on 5.0

Well I installed my new Magnaflow cat back, 15000 SI/SO on my 11 5.0. It sounds nice when you get on it, but has no tone when idling. I'm thinking that I will need to replace the front pipe which has the resonator on it. Anyone know of a source for this pipe? I will likely visit a local exhaust shop and see what they can make up for me.

Anyone looking to do exhaust on these trucks should look at replacing the resonator too.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Did you install it yourself? I called the muffler shop a couple of days ago to see about having a True Duel Borla set up put on my 5.0L and they told me that they cut the reso pipe off these trucks when to put aftermarket mufflers on them. I suppose all muffler shops do things differently though.

Sounds like the muffler shop you are talking to is building the exhaust system vs installing an off the shelf cat-back system. I do all of my own work and installing this system was super easy. I just would have liked to have had the option to remove the resonator.

Unless you've already done so, the resonator should be replaced with a 3" pipe so the whole system will be 3", as the Y-pipe up to the front joint with the resonator is also 3".
Just so you know, Flowmaster replaces the resonator with a 3" pipe in every system for late Ford trucks, replacing everything from the Y-pipe on back with an all-3" system for better flow.
