2010 F250 front bumper has rust already!

So, Toyota/Nissan don't have these problems?? What about Ford cars - similiar issue? I plow so, I just assumed my conditions brought it on. Both my 08' and this one had issues, especially from the salter brackets rust running down on bumber. Paint or new bumper. The factory chrome steps looked terrible after one season, had to steel wool them. My aftermarket chrome steps on my 08' didn't wear quite so badly. Quite a few scratches on the passanger side and, a few tailgate chips. Don't no where that stuff came from. All the $ must be going into the technology, powertrain, and legacy costs.

I have 2011 F250 with 2000 miles bought at end of November. It is garage kept and washed after snow storms. I am located in Ohio. I noticed my tow hooks are getting rust spots and there is 4 bolts you can see thru bumper gaps that should be black and are fading white. I made switch from Chevy to Ford since liked alot of features of ford over Chevy I hope this rust issue doesnt turn into a thorn in my side. Like to keep this truck 10+ years.

I wnet in for an oil change today so I talked to the service writer about the bumpers. She was very candid about it and said yes we've been getting complaints. Ford's policy is to clean the bumper first and ONLY if there is pitting will they replace it. If it wipes off they consider this a maintenace item. She agrees that a 6 month old bumper should not be getting surface rust. Ford is playing stupid like this is normal and you have to keep it clean. BTW the bumpers fall under the 3/36000 warranty and NOT the sheet metal warranty so if you live in the rust belt monitor them closely. One thing I forgot to ask her is if they do replace it is the replacement bumper any better? I'm guessing no since Ford doesnt even admit they have a problem in the first place.

I'd bet money Ford is getting these bumpers made overseas, probably from asia. Look up copper, nickel and chromium pricing sometime, its is not getting any cheaper so the plating is probably made as thin as possible. Going on 7 years and my 04' bumpers look very nice yet with no rust on the chrome.

Not bet!!!
My 2001 F150 shows no rust on the bumpers...Apparently my 2010 just needs to be kept clean!!

I have to agree that the chrome is terrible. I replaced a 2000 GMC with the 2011 F250 because there was no body left on the GMC. That being said the chrome on the bumpers was still intact though there was no steel left under it. I hope that this truck does not have the same rust problem. To try to keep rust to a minimum, had it was rust proofed using Waxoyl done professionally.

Ford should be ashamed. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
If it is too expensive to put good chrome plate on a piece of metal they should paint it. I have seen the same issues on more than one site.<o></o>

I have some pitting on my 2009 tow hook and the dealer sent me away. <o></o>

My 09 has rust staining around the inside edges of the cutouts in the bumper... and one actual rust spot in the chrome right in the center of the end. Probably a rock chip or something.
My 99 F150 although has the cab corners completely rusted through as well as a couple spots on the bed, has just as good of shape chrome as my 09 does now.
I want to do a whole bumper replacement and I am seriously thinking about an all SS setup, either DIY or have a local shop build per my specs...

See if you can get a price on the fabbed bumper, I may be interested also. But, price does matter for me!!
