Glove box door stuck

Glove box door stuck
I just bought a 1975 F250 and among other things the glove box door is stuck closed. Any quick and dirty ways to gain entrance? In a worst case I can go in through the bottom of the box if I cut a hole in it under the dash but I'd prefer not to cut anything.
Thanks for all suggestions.

Glove box door stuck
The button used to open it won't even move in a hair. I've tried to push the door in while pushing the button, sprayed Lube-it around the button to try to loosen it, jiggled the button, and used mild rapping of the button to try and jar it loose. I know the button on my other truck has occasionally gotten stuck as well but usually I can free it by jiggling while I push on the door.
Depending on how long it's been stuck I may find all kinds of neat things inside. Kind of a surprise.

Does it have a slot for a key?? I have seen a few that actually have a lock.
If it still is stuck, and you dont mind replacing the latch/button assy, gently whack the button with a hammer (be carefull you dont miss, or you will make a mess) If the latch was bound up, it should open. If that doesnt work, try using a flat bar to pry it open (that is if you dont mind replacing the door now) Once again, becarefull about the paint...

Old thread but now I have the same problem on my 78! Seemed to be working fine until I went to open it and it does not want to. Button will depress but does not seem to go down far enough. I tried pushing on the door at the same time and bumping it with my palm but no go.
Anyone got any tricks?

Here is what it looks like from behind.....if you have tried the holding in on the door and then the "pop it, smack it" method with no luck.
If you have long freakishly skinny arms and or can get past the glove box insert and the heater box you can pop the tab from behind with a stubby screwdriver.
No real way to go at it from the front with a plastic card, the angles on the door are to steep.
Do not get mad and rip the card board glove box in pieces to get to the button tab back there...
After you get it open clean and lube the button internals and the slide piece.

Awesome pictures....extremely helpful to those who don't know what's underneath.

Mine was stuck and I sprayed WD-40 in between the lock and the door and was able to get open that way. I used a long thin screwdriver blade and ran it from underneath threw the front of the glove box, not sure that did much. The WD-40 sure did!
