harmonic balancer

I have an 88 302 ho for my 52 f1. I an going to carberator and distibutor. I have a harmonic balancer from a 1980 255 and it appears to be the same as the later one but the timing marks work better on the older one.

Will they interchange? (I think they are both the 50 ounce ones)

Thanks

Yes, the 255 shared a 50 oz. imbalance factor with the '81 and later 302. The crankshafts are even interchangeable. You should be able to use the 255 damper without any problem if it will line your accessory drive pullies up correctly.

Curiosity question.
My 53 Flattie didn't have a balancer from the factory.... we balanced it when we re-built it. Any advantage to adding a HB at this point?
