Tranny help

so i replaced my carb today on my 79 f-150 and noticed a shift linkage of sorts from the carb thats suppose to attach to the tranny(i think). well its snaped off and i was wondering what it was what it does and where i could replace it???

sounds like your kickdown linkage. it goes from the throttle to the shift linkage on your tranny. when you are passing, its what downshifts the trans for passing power

truck will run the same without it, but it is nice having the trans kickdown when you want it to move slowly more faster. A self service junkyard will be the cheapest bet, but a junkyard or ebay is the only place you will find what you need without a monthly payment.
