Rear AC unit in vans

I'm looking for some info about the factory rear AC units of the mid 90's vans.

I'm looking for the size of the rear evaporator and weather it is a orifice tube or expansion control block for freon control.

So far I found nothing in the local junk yards to answer those questions.... online not much more help too.

What I am going to do, is on my 95 E350 Bus, the rear AC system's compressor(duel AC compressors) is failing and I want to get rid of it and tie into the factory's AC system. Also its ran off the alternator belt, so that belt is under extreme loads and I get only a years use before that belt glazes over!

I know the rear AC compressor is a 9.0ci compressor and the FS10(factory) is a 10ci compressor. I will be using the rear AC's condenser(side mounted with 3 electric fans) and will tie into the hot gas discharge at the factory compressor and suction side there too.

$723 for that rear AC system compressor is out of the question too, what a rip as its a "special" compressor for "special" vehicle operation..... with "special" price tag to go with!

I've held a 2006 rear evaporator in my hand but I don't have precise measurements. I'd guess it's 12" by 8" by 4". It has an expansion valve which Ford doesn't sell separately, but you can get an evaporator with and without expansion valve, and a separate expansion valve in the aftermarket. An independent parts source like rockauto.com or a local parts store website might have the dimensions of the evaporator.

I'm lost as to what chassis/body you're dealing with---is it a bus body on an E-Series frame or just a normal E350 van?

What exact year?

I don't know where your located but i have the complete rear air evap, heater core assy from my 92 e150 with attached poa valve or expansion tube, blower motor and related hoses, not sure i this could help you but let me know. I live in NW Oregon and air conditioning is more of a luxury than requirement, the a/c compressor locked up and replacing it also entailed replacing over half of the other a/c components so needless to say it is not getting fixed and the rear air assy is basically taking up space in the left rear corner of my van..
