New Motor

So I am in the process of rebuilding my 390 for my 1975 F100 and in an earlier post I told of getting an engine from the junkyard from a 1970 LTD, well that engine was bad, it had froze and busted the block in three places- 1 in the lifter valley and 2 at the rear of the block by the crank freezeplug (FYI Anti-Freeze is important even in Texas) anyway, he let me bring the engine back to the junkyard and we pulled a 360 from a 1974 F100 4X4, I really wanted the whole truck but anyway, This engine I could tell had been very recently rebuilt but it was locked up, I really wasnt worried but in hindsight probably should have been, so anyway when I tore this engine apart there was some nasty water in every cylinder, NO CLUE WHY- maybe flood, It took some elbow grease to pound the pistons out but since I had the rods and crank from the 70 390 I wasnt too worried about hurting anything, EVERYTHING else in the engine looked great including a Crane Powerball (or Fireball Maybe) cam, it also had a factory 4 barrell steel intake and an Edlebrock 1407 carburetor, a MSD converted points to Electronic Ignition Distributor and High Power Coil, and a Rear Sump pan that had been soldered closed to use the dipstick in the block, It also came with the d2te heads but one of them was cracked and the machine shop recommended using one of both heads and only hardening the valves on the one c8 heads, we would use both c8 heads but several exhaust bolts were broke off and from what I have read and what he said there is no difference in these heads besides Hardened Valves. So my real question besides wanting feedback on all of this is, the Block was bored 40 over already and the machine shop thinks 60 over should be ok assuming the rust didnt go too deep, Am I going to have any overheat or other issues with 60 over

What Art said!

The later blocks are reputed to have thicker cores, but are still subject to core shift. Here is a quick way to see if you might have thicker cylinder cores: 332-428 Ford FE Engine Forum: The jury is still out...---

I'd be concerned about the block not cleaning up.
