'06 5.4 SD, flashing engine light, surges, runs rough
#16
Update:
Here I am, 5 months after the initial problems and my truck still doesn't run completely right. I bought a Innova 3160 scan tool and it always shows a misfire in cylinder #5 code PO 305. I've replaced all eight coils with new Accel super coils and initially when I first installed them the truck ran perfect. You could tell it was running better since as soon as I first started the engine, you could hear it ran smoother and it felt smoother as it was easier to take off in 1st gear and I didn't see or feel vibration inside the cab.
Unfortunately the MIL light started coming on and it most often happens when I left off the gas and coast. I've run Seafoam, Marvel Mystery Oil and a tank full of premium Chevor Techron fuel through it hoping it would clean out the fuel injectors. The truck runs worse with a load when towing a trailer and the misfire comes right back even after clearing it with the scan tool. Unloaded/empty it runs fine but will start misfiring intermittently for no appear reason other than letting of the throttle and coasting, but not every time.
Any ideas? I've got new spark plugs on order and will be replacing the fuel injector in cylinder #5.
