Upfitter and Fog Lights

I like to have the option of using my parking lights and fog lights but not my headlights either in the morning or late afternoon. Just personal preference. I have an 2009 F250 Lariat with OEM fog lights and cab lights. Can I wire the truck to one of th upfitter switcheds to just turn on the parking, fog and even the roof top cab lights without having the headlights on. When ready to turn on headlights i would just use the dial on the dash. tks

You can already turn just the parking and clearance lights on using the switch on the dash. So the only thing you want to change is the fog light function.

Lots of guys do that because you cannot have high beam headlights and fog lights on at the same time with the stock setup. I think there is a wiring trick to do that, but that's not what you want either, because you want headlights off/fog lights on.

I think the easiest thing will be for you to run a wire from your upfitter out all the way to the fog light harness, where you will cut the harness and connect up the new wire. Should be pretty simple. The dash fog light switch would no longer do anything.

Be sure to check the wattage draw of the fog lights, and that the upfitter capacity is adequate. If not, a relay will be required.

Are you sure that you can't already run fogs with just your running lights on? My 2004 Lariat can run with fog lights on and head lights off. Try pulling the switch out for the fog lights while it's still on parking lights. You could always buy a replacement headlight control, they will have an OEM replacement with the option and you wouldn't have to waste an upfitter switch.

I think it's illegal to "not" have your roof cab lights on if so equiped.

That might be true for any marker light.

You were correct. Got home from work and tried this and it does do what I want. I was shocked. Guess I shouldn't daydream about my truck and mods before trying out what I want first. Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with daydreaming! You should see the list of aftermarket things I want for my truck!
