I didn't keep any of that info, sorry. But now that you mention it, I think one was just a straight piece and it was a gradual enough bend that it worked. And yes, 1/2" sounds like the right size.

thoughts on oil cooler bypass

I have a 2005 3L Esc with 160K on it and the metal pipe on the oil cooler line has sprung a leak. All the misc rubber hoses are available via Ford, but the metal pipe is only in the complete kit at about $150. I was thinking about just figuring out a place to bypass the oil cooler all together. I don't tow with it and its pretty much just for short town trips. Anyone do this? Any other thoughts?

Take a look at post #8 in this thread. If you can confirm that the oil cooler is only present on vehicles that included a towing package, and you're not doing any towing, then I think you have your answer.

I have a 95 F159 XLT Mark 3 in tip top shape. Yesterday I had it jacked up to put a tire on. With it jacked up I gave it a look over under the truck. Well I notice I had to hoses runnig off one big hose. The two hoses was not connected but look like thy should be connected next to the oil filter. I also notice two metal pipes where it look like they should go with one rotted. The truck runs fine and dont over heat and have not given me any issues. How is this possible and with me for now just dring the truck around town. Is it something that needs to be fixed right away and is it an easy fix with the metal pipe portion being rotted. Thx for a reply.

I would post your question in the F-150 section under the correct year. But if it has been this way and you're not losing oil it probably won't hurt anything if you don't fix it right away.

And you're not losing coolant, and you're not overheating. I take it you're not the original owner - sounds like a previous owner bypassed the oil cooler because of a leak, caused by the rusted hose nipple. If you want it back to original, you'll need to replace the oil cooler and figure out the coolant hoses.
