What steering column fits our trucks?

Do steering columns from f250 or 350 fit our truck, or is it excursion column only??

thank you for your response. are you saying the same from experience? only reason i am asking is there is no used excursion columns in my area, but there are superduty pick ups, so i am going to buy one on your say so as i have no other way of knowing.. is there anything i need to look for? obviously it needs to have the tilt option but that should be it, correct? oh and it needs to have the chip in the key option also, right? also what about years? should be the same right up to 07?? thanks.

You'll need to stay within certain model year as yours. The newer F250/350 has that boxy looking steering wheel. Not sure if those will fit. From what I recall, it's the cab and forward are the same on the superduties.

The f series won't have the pats key in em. They didn't get that option till later yrs.

You should be able to reuse yours tho. Why the change in columns?

it was shifting terribly, very hard.. i was fighting it to get it to shift.. and today it finally broke. you know those 2 torx screws that always loosen up, well i had to pull on the shifter so hard that they snaped inside the column. and even though i may be able to remove the column to somehow get the broken bolts out, id rather get a good column in there so i wont have the issue anymore.. the pats key is whats stoping me from getting a super duty column.. im not sure if i can transfer my stuff onto it or not. i mihgt be better off spending a little more and having an excursion one shipped to me..

Should be just a matter of putting in your wiring loom. I have not had one apart so I don't know if there is just a plug at the one end or if the wires run right on thru to control panel. Even so it should be pretty straight forward to strip the loom and add to new column.
Something to ask the wreckers maybe on what would come with the column, or they should be able to bring one in from an X, or search yourself. Car-part . com

I've heard that the bushings wear out and needs to be replaced. They're round, black plastic collar like bushings. When they wear out, it'll be hard to move the shifter...so I've read.
