Transfer case swaps

As far as the transmission to transfer case bolting together is concerned, what in swaps. I'm almost positive a np208 from a 86 F350 and bw1356 from a 88 F350 the fronts will swap out, but what about a np 205 from a 79 Bronco, the ones that didn't have a driveshaft between them. Do they fit the same bolt pattern as the newer 1356 and 208?

yes. as far as i know all of the old pre-modular motor transmissions shared a common bolt pattern, so as long as the input is the same spline count and diameter it should be all good.

76-97 pickups and 78-96 broncos should all be the same.

Before 76 the some pickups had a Dana 21 that had it's a own pattern, and 66-77 Broncos had a Dana 20 with its own pattern.

Dan, the D-20 t-case is NOT a single speed. That was the D-21

the D-20 has a 2:1 low range.

and oddly enough rob, dave mentioned the d-21 :flipoff:

i know rob, next time i'll address both cases dave mentions. but as a general rule of thumb, i talk about fullsize parts, i leave the jeep/scout/eb stuff for those that know it, cause i really don't.

Might have to grind a notch in your trans to clear the shift rail on the 205
