i just bought a 4x4 f250 1989 with the 351w and the zf-5 i need help the 4x4 will slide right into high bout wont move over to slide down to 4x4 low any ideas?

 

is your trans. in neutral when you are trying to shift the 4x4? could be seized up linkage so dont force it.

 

Seized linkage.. mine is stuck the same way right now but I don't have much need for 4-low so it can wait until spring. The fix is pretty easy though, on this vintage truck there is a large pivot bolt with a bushing that always seems to dry out, and all you got to do is remove that bolt and lube it up. Be careful how much TQ you apply to this assembly with the lever and the wrench, they're pretty easy to break.
