Steering Column Cross Section

Greetings. I am looking for perhaps a breakout parts diagram or a cross section diagram to see how the 2011 steering columns and all related linkages/parts go together.

I have spent some time at the dealer about a rattling in my steering since the day I drove off the lot. One of the tech explained to me that its a flaw in the collapsable linkage. He said he would be more than happy to replace everything but fears that I will eventually end up having the same issue.

So I thought, if I can see how it goes together, maybe I can figure something out (like welding the thing together or greasing it up) because its driving me crazy. I can reach under the dash and grab the steering shaft where it goes through the firewall and slightly move it up and down as to where I feel/hear the same clunk. I can also grab the top of the steering wheel and pull it in and out which also creates the same clunk. I don't mind noises and I am honestly not very picky but when its something I feel in the steering wheel, it drives me crazy.

Thanks for any input y'all have.

It will .

I went out and tested it on a couple 250s sitting on the lot and they displayed the same behavior.

They said they would be more than happy to replace the entire column but it would be replaced with the same parts and he thinks that there will be a redesign next year on that part. He is familiar with the issue and I trust the guy. I have been going to him for almost 20 years.

Wow... Thats great. Thanks!

I believe the issue to be somewhere between #3 and #8 according to image #3.

I may pull the wheel and see if I can start tracking it down. The dealer, as good as they are, will only replace. I want to find the source and fix.
