Yeah, my wife calls the other day from 30 miles away and told me she locked her keys in the 2000 Ranger. She didn't want to call a locksmith and I was at work so she calls my son. He does some research on the net before heading off to help and finds this gem.

 

I did that to my '04 once using a barbecue skewer - it works...

Most guys have been welding plates in their doors to prevent this from working

 

After doing that, I don't keep anything in my truck worth stealing... I have the PATS so I'm not really not worried about anyone stealing the truck lol... It would be nice to find a way to block this that doesn't involve welding, though...

I would think that it would be fairly easy to make a bolt in plate yourself. Need to get the door panel off and take a look.

Thank you for posting this. Dont want the criminals to have this info, but its better to know and be able to do something about it too.
