Advancing cam timing

Excuse this old V8 convert for another silly question, but advancing the cam is so easy on a SBF. There are dozens of timing sets for a SBF that will let you advance or retard the cam timing. Didn't see anything comparable for the 300 at Summit.

So to advance the cam on a 300, is it just a matter of slapping on degree wheel on the cam and turning it x degrees and slipping on the gear? I'd like to advance the stock cam until I'm ready to build a new engine and installing a new steel timing gear set is a good enough excuse if it's that simple.

I've asked previously about cam "indexing". Never really got an answer.
I know that most non-stock V8 cam grinds come with a spec sheet that calls for the cam to be indexed at a certain degree, but no clue about aftermarket cams for the I6. I assume it could be done, thru the use of offset keyways. Can't say I've ever seen cam or crank gears for the 300 with multiple/offset keyway slots, like the SBC and SBF stuff does.....

Cloyes does have a multi index gear set. It allows -4*,0, or +4* timing.

That, along with a set of 1-3* offset keys, should allow for practically any cam index setting.
Who carries this cloyes gear set?

Any performance shop(summit, Jegs, PAW, etc.), and even NAPA(napa uses cloyes number).
8-1014 is the Cloyes number

Very groovy, thanks. For what ever reason that didn't come up when I searched.
