Question Clutch HELP plz!

hey guys..
tonite i was shifting and sheered off the pin on my clutch pedal that holds the clutch cylinder rod...i had to have it towed to a shop. it didnt feel tight or any different than normal, other than it was -11 this am and about 10+ when it broke.

first off...what would cause this? wear? old age? also how can i prevent it from happening? and do i need to buy a whole new pedal assembly or is the a cheap, easy fix from one of the brothers? thanks alot in advance...

The cheap fix is to drill a hole in the pedal where the little shaft broke off and stick a bolt in there. There's an upgrade mod some do using a heim joint, but I'd have to try and find the link.

got it fixed...
we ended up grinding off the "head" side and welding the pin back on. installed a nylon bushing and used a cotter pin...all is back to normal and the clutch actually feels better than ever...
thanks to those who threw out suggestions....
