Anyone get rid of 6.0 dpowerstroke for the new 6.2?

I currently have a 2006 F350 6.0 but, I'm interested in the 6.2 gas. I was wanting to hear from guys that have made the change from the 6.0 if their happy with the new gas motor...any regrets or if anyone has gone from a Chevy 6.0 to the 6.2, I've had both so any comparisons would be great.

I did try to do some search's but came up with not a lot of info on this subject....thanks for any help and info.

Good question. IIRC, I've read a couple of posts on here from folks who made the switch from the 6.0. I am interested as well so thanks for asking.....I'll be watching for responses. In the meantime, here's one you may or may not have read from a former 6.4 owner who switched.

Anyone get rid of 6.0 dpowerstroke for the new 6.2?

I have a 2006 F350 6.0 and wanting to get peoples thoughts and any info of going to the 6.2 gas after having the 6.0 diesel. I tow a 8000 pound trailer about 10 times a month and would like to know how it will perform and what rear end to get? Thanks

Cade I merged your two threads. Both asked the same question.

The 6.2 will deal with 8k no sweat. Ten times a month how far? 3.73's would do fine, but it's up to you...

What kind of terrain? The same load in Florida is a LOT different than even where I live, lots of rolling hills. Going even more mountainous, and it makes a difference. For what it's worth, the engine in this truck has more horsepower than any previous PSD that ford has offered. The new 6.7 is only a few hp higher. The real difference is the torque, but these transmissions are geared fairly well, with a good steep 1st gear-so getting big loads started is not such a chore. I can only speak from experience of about 5-6,000 lbs towing with this truck so far, but I can assure you, I practically forgot the trailer was behind me. If you are in a position where you have the financial ability to switch to a new truck, I honestly do not think you would regret it. Just my 2 cents.

I live in Kansas City Missouri, so the terrain is flat, lots of stop lights and some interstate driving. I hope that helps for anyone with advice. Thank you to those that have replied and for merging the two threads. I realized I left the first thread a little vague.

I switched from a F-250 cc 4x4 6.0 2003 back in August and pull a 9000lb travel trailer. My new truck is an F-250 cc 4x4 6.2 2011 and works great at pulling. The cost of the 6.0 was killing me which I could have made the switch sooner.

Thanks Claycomotrucks1991, what rear end gear did you go with? I assume your in the Kansas City area, so what rear end gear should I go with? My trailer is a tandem axel flatbed with a pressure washer, 525 gallon water tank and misc. other stuff mounted on it that I pull from commercial job to job, about 50/50 of city and interstate. I've heard 373 will be fine than others say get the 430 and with the 6 speed it will make up the fuel economy...any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I went with a 3.73 and have no problems. That is what I had in my 6.0 and took many a trip to the mountains. The 6.2 pulls equally good in the mountauns.

Great thread and info, Sounds like either gear set would be just fine for you 3.73 or 4.30. Most dealerships have the 6.2L with 3.73 gear set.

The info that has been given is great. I was considering the diesel but ended up with the 6.2 and am very happy with it. I haul a enclosed 102" X 20' Car carrier with full carpentry workshop in it about #7000. Hauling this load in the mountains of VT is no problem. I average about 9mpg and I can't be happier.

Got rid of my manual 2006 CC LB 6.0L. Have the 6.2L 3.73. Tow trailer about your size, usually at 80mph if I am in a hurry.

If towing lots, would have gone 4.30. But I mostly run light or with a smaller enclosed snowmobile trailer. I live at 7,000 ft elevation and run up and down the mountain.

I am quite happy that the 6.0L is gone, and am ok that my fuel econ is down 25% from my old 6.0L. Like the gas motor much better for lots of reasons....

Glad I found you guys

I have a 03 F-250 CC, 4x2, LB, Lariet, 5th wheel receiver, sprayed in bed liner, Royal Red/Pale Adobe with the 6.0L Powerstroke and just a fewhours ago I ordered my new 2011- F-250 SC, 4X2 with the 6.2L gas. It has the standard 3.73 rearend and I pull a 9,000 lb 5th wheel one a month.

Like others have said the diesel prices are way up and even though I love my 2003 6L it was time to get back to gas and save a few buck on fillups.

They say it will be 6-8 weeks to get. Anyone have any pictures of that 2 tone color? Royal Red/Pale Adobe?
