5x5.5 to 5x4.5 Wheel Adapters

My current wheels are 15x8 (front) and 15x10 (rear). I'm going to a thinner rim, so the added offset should be.....well...... offset!

My truck is actually an '81 F100, but I needed this info. I just bought my truck, and the other day I went to rotate some tires and guess what... I found that I couldn't. The fronts were 5x4.5 and the rear is 5x5.5! crawled under and saw where the rear apparently spend some time in salvage, apparent by markings which listed it for my truck. Well now I will either have to 1. find a new complete rear end with correct measurements, 2. carry around two spares, and have different wheels on front and back or 3. get a conversion. Thanks for the idea!

Some 1980/83 F100's came with 5 lug 4.50" bolt circle wheels, some came with 5 lug 5.50" bolt circle wheels.
Someone may have swapped in a 1980/86 F150 9" because all F150's came with 5 lug, 5.50" bolt circle wheels. Only some 1980/83 F100's have the odd ball 4.50" bolt circle pattern.
But, if it has an inspection cover on the rear of the housing, it's not a 9" .. It's an 8.8" rear axle with 5.50" pattern, introduced in 1983.
Depending on the application, 1983/86 F100/150's could have either the 8.8 or 9 inch.
Be aware that Passenger Car wheels with the 5 lug 4.50" pattern will not fit, as they won't clear the F100's calipers.
The rear brake shoes with the 4.50" pattern are 10" x 2 1/2" / With the 5.50" pattern, the rear brakes shoes are 11" x 2 1/4" for all 1968/83 F100's, 1975/96 F150's.
Suggest you ask further questions in the 1980/86 forum.
