Does anyone have experiance with using an exhaust brake on 04 6.0. Need to know if any problems like over heating? Also any suggestions for brake?

With tuning, you can use the VGT turbo for providing exhaust back pressure. Many use this and I will be changing my street and tow tunes for this feature.

Never a fan of the exhaust brake myself, but that's personal preference only

and in more places nowdays (usually urban areas) see the little sign saying "No exhaust brake use"

but I will on occasion use the tow haul feature to let it downshift and save the brakes !

The exhaust brakes refered to on city street signs are usually on large trucks. Jake Brakes release compression at TDC, the sudden release of compressed gas is very noisy!
Compression release engine brake - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The type of exhaust brake on smaller engines is a butterfly valve in the exhaust system. This has to be carefully controlled or high exhaust manifold pressure can hold the exhaust valves open allowing them to contact the pistons.

As jdadamsjr suggests select Tow/Haul on your shifter. The turbo vanes close on deceleration which restricts the exhaust flow and does a fairly good job of slowing you down. The transmission computer will also downshift for you which adds more braking power.
