05 f150 fuel pump !

i have a 05 f150. came out to start the other day and it would not start. i could not hear the fuel pump so i thought it went out. long story short i found that the pump does not have a good ground. i bought a hayes man. but does have wiring diagrams for fuel pump. i have the pump out of the tank so i have not tryed to start it . but by using jumpers the pump will run if i ground to the frame. it is my famalys only trans right now and money is tight! i need help! does the pump have to be ground thew the harnes or can i splice in and go to the frame for ground? please help! thanks! otter...

Look at the Fuel Pump Driver module. It is mounted to the frame next to the spare tire. You will find there is going to be very large amounts of corrosion between the module and the mounting bracket. Replace the driver module, the corrosion has damaged the module and it is not sending power to your pump.

did you replace the Fuel pump, or the seperate driver module mounted on the frame? The driver module gets power from the intertia switch, and has it's own ground. It receives a signal from the pcm telling it how much fuel pressure is needed, the driver module then commands the fuel pump on w/ a pulse modulated signal on a 2 wire circuit to the fuel pump itself. Check for power to the pump driver module on the thicker White wire, and check for a good ground on the thick Black wire. The easiest way to do this is disconnect the driver module's harness, and connect a good test line between the white and black wires. If it lights with the ignition on then the 2 circuits are good.

i have power at the driver mod .i used a test light between the white wire and black groundand have power. the driver is what i replaced . i have power to the pump but i do not have ground. i ran a jumper ground from the frame to the connector on the pump and the truck starts and runs. but im not sure if the gound needs to come threw the harness or if i can drive it this way. thanks

I believe the driver module needs to see the ground, or it will send a signal back to the pcm setting a code for a pump circuit fault(not 100% sure though). I would check the continuity of the wires from the driver module to the pump and check pin fit at both connectors.
