While you are at it I would clean the IAC just cause. 140k isn't alot of miles, I have a real hard time believing it is more then a COP or sensor or something like that.
cops = coil on plugs ??

coils x8 120.00 total
then rockers $50.00 20 g sheetmetal seem sealer
breaks new lines pads rotors $150.00 +
total will be around $453.00 just parts
then got to figure out what i need to do to remove spark plugs
Wow! You got some good prices.
I put 4 GOOD rotors (Centrix), Ceramic pads all way around, 4 new calipers, and new e-brake shoes on my Navi. My price just for the parts was near $600.

Check the condiction of the tranny cooler lines - they tend to rot out.

Check the condiction of both front wheel bearings/hubs - big bucks for quality parts.

Jack it up and check each upper and lower ball joint as well as all tie rod ends. Of course, with 140k maybe they have already been replaced once.

yeah. Coil on plugs. Hate them! Stupid lincoln i had, they were $55ea. Was replacing like one a month, got fed up an ordered a new set of 8 on ebay, that lasted 6 months and started again, one at a time. So 2 weeks ago I traded the lincoln for a 97 Eddie Bauer Expedition that's lifted on 35's. Has it's share of issues too. Spent last weekend at the junkyard gettng parts and working on it. I like wrenching, keeps me busy. Fire up the torpedo heater in the garage and crank the radio and clear my head.

Don't forget your time in this project as well and depreciating values. The vehicle is never going go up in price. Like all (well, most) cars, we technically are throwing our money away. Add in $500 you stated plus another $350 to $400 in fluids (transmission, transfer case, front and rear diffs, coolant, and oil) and now you have doubled your cost to a $2200 Expy that you still need to spend hours upon hours on repairing. Don't forget that you need to do bodywork which is fitting panels, sanding, priming and painting. How much do those materials cost?

On top of this, how long do you plan on keeping this vehicle? it's already eleven years old.

Again, I'm not here to be the pessimistic one; I'm hoping that you won't get set on one Expy just because of the low price. When I bought my 97, it had 107k on it, one owner, always garaged and very, very clean. I paid $3500 for it and it has been worth every penny. Besides fluids and tune up, I haven't had to do anything else.

I LOVE the Rat Rod with it's doors,Mercury front end, frenched headlights, Corvette grill and Pontiac bumper and the sedan delibery body. Truely a work of art in progress. I would like to see more of it when it is finished, if it ever is.
