Ford Died

OK so i havent been on here inawhile. This past fall i really started doing some more to my truck. I retinted my windows. Had my interior redone customly in camo( headliner and all,, pretty neat). Six inch lift. New tires. It was getting the way i wanted it.. Then the block heater cord decided to heat up a lil one night i was on seconds. Burned the truck up. Melted the aluminum brackets on the block it got so hot. VERY good life tip-- Change it.. its cheap and easy..

So after insurance paid off, i figured id try thr hype of a cummins.. All i can say about it is i miss the hell outta my ford.

Wow, that was destructive! Sucks you lost your Ford, good luck with the Cummins, my uncle has one and he loves it. The sound is amazing. If money allowed I would have a 05 Fummins.

That makes me sick to see that. One reason why I rarely use the block heater. I plugged it in the other night for the wife and I couldn't sleep all night from worrying about it. That's a decent looking Dodge you got though, hope it's good to you.

For those of you still using a block heater, you might consider switching to a syn oil such as 5w40 Rotella T6.. You are good to about zero degrees without a heater. Might save your truck and you save on electricity too..

I don't like the 6.9L cummins. If you can, try to find a little bit older one.

You mean 6.7 Cummins, and the one he has in his post is the older 5.9 cummins (the better one).

Yeah, I ment 6.7....

My boss has three of the 6.7L hooked o the 6 speed, and they do OK, but the 5.9 is just a WAY better engine.

Very good point Clint.

Since going to a 10-40 syn oil and ensuring my GPR (Stancor) and GPs (all new ZD-11's) are in good working condition I never plug in anymore.

Truck sat for over a month with overnight temps below freezing and some nights and mornings in the teens for the entire month, it started right
up after letting the GPs heat for 40 seconds.

I didnot have any leaking fuel problems on the truck. There was some oil on the motor which i am sure helpd it gt hot.

My cummins is the 5.9. I put the south bend dual disk 750hp clutch in it the first week i had it. I love the motor in the truck but i dont care for the rest of it. My ford had WAY more room and rode much btr.

I am really sorry to see this. it makes me sick to my stomach as well. Was the block heater plugged into a GFI protected outlet? Being an electrician makes me curious.
