Inner Cab Corner

Ok, I got the drivers side outer corner (rear) removed last night and the inner corner's lower half is looking pretty bad. I was going to see if I could fab the lower half and save some money and hopefully pick up some more fab skills ...or so I think. Anyway has anyone made one of these and have any pics to give me some idea. I will be replacing the gas tank filler so I will need to make it to fill in the filler tunnel that was there. Or would it be better to just buy the panel and call it a day? I figured since it's really only the lower 4 inches or so all the way around I could give it a try. The area I'm talking about is the part below the part that holds the cab to the frame. What guage sheet metal should I buy for that area?

Thanks for any input!

No pictures of my fab of a inner corner but here is the panel in place on a 54 cab I did. This is a good shot because the outer corner has yet to be installed. I don't mind fabricating parts but ones as complex as this are too easily bought...my time is worth more than the cost of the panel.

I put a new inner rear cab corner in my '54 and had to do quite a bit of tweaking to get it to fit right. I couldn't imagine making one from scratch with all the different bends in it.

Ok, you all talked me out of it...what was I thinking.

I'm starting to think I should save myself the pain and just buy the patch. Ya it does look pretty hard to make that. I was thinking since it would just be the lower half maybe it wouldn't be too bad, but it looks like for an amature like me it wont be worth the time and effort I would have to put into it.

Sam, don't bother at this point. I got the idea from the other posted pictures. I went a head and just ordered that and the lower cab post section which was also toast. That would probably take me a month before I got it correct and a lot of choice words if you know what I mean. Thanks a lot for the pic offer and for everyone else's input. YOU GUYS TALKED ME OUT OF IT.
