3 in lift

I can get a lift kit for 75 dollars. just wondering what the laws are about it. I would hate to put it in only to have to pull it back off. also does the lift do anything for hauling stuff. and if I do do this what size tires will fit under it. I have a 91 f 150 4x4. thanks

I live in South Dakota and we dont but i have no idea where your located so idk about your laws.
$75 is dirt cheap for a lift, i spent over $350 for my lift and its only 2.5".
And hasn't seemed to affect my hauling, just may need a bigger drop hitch for pulling trailers.
And with my 2.5" lift i've ran 33x12.5x15, i have more space with the 33's so i just ordered 35's which im near positive will fit with nearly no trimming. But just an fyi i had to put spacers on my wheels for the 12.5" wide tires cuz they rubbed on the radius arm, but wasn't bad just limited turning by a little, still got around any parking lot, i just purchased the spacers cuz i liked the wider look and it give me a better turning radius. Good luck hope this helped.

By the title of this thread I assume you are saying you came across a 3 inch lift kit for your truck? Is it a bodylift or a suspension lift? Either way I doubt a 3 inch lift would make your truck illegal in most states. Different states have different laws on lift and lowering heights. I would imagine you could check with your local DMV and they could provide you with the information on vehicle heights. A lift kit of either form (body or suspension) generally does not increase payload capacity. With a 3 inch lift on your truck you can comfortably fit 33 inch tires inside the wheelwells with no rubbing. Hope this helps!

It doesn't matter what kind of 3 inch lift he puts on his pickup, he can run 33's i do agree but if they are 12.5" wide they will rub on the radius arm no matter what, i have the same exact pickup he has, i know this from personal experiance.

In the state of WI you can alter your suspension up to 4" and add to the diameter of the tires by 4"

Heres my buddys 91 F150 w/ 3" body lift on 35" tires, NO rubbing (aftermarket rims w/ correct backspacing)

Very true I had 12.50 wide 33s on my 84 F150 4wd with a 4" lift, and they rubbed the radius arms. I had em mounted on a set of 95-96 factory aluminum wheels. I am currently running 32x11.50s on the same wheels on my 96 F150 4wd with a 2.5" lift, they also rub. Like Blue Rebel said, backspacing is also important.

Yes backspacing is very important. I went the cheap way and just got 2" spacers, not the best way to do it but had to buy tires and couldn't afford new wheels also so i just went with the spacers. I have 33x11.5's on now and they dont rub at all with the spacers, my 35x12.5's are on the way im pretty sure they wont rub either(i hope).lol

thanks for the info...didn't know there was a suspension and a body lift. dont know which one this guy has. thanks blue rebel for the pick. my truck would look good that way and you are pretty close to me. I am in black earth. i was watching gears and when he did a lift on a truck the 3 inches was in the knuckle on the front. would this be the suspension lift and that would be the right way to do it isn't it. thanks

Body lifts are pretty much a cheap mans lift. Requires a lot of stuff to make it look good, like body gap gaurds, bumper relocations, and all the extensions for your lines and stuff. I had recently posted a forum on here about doing a 3" lift and most people are against it.

Just curious how bad did that affect your turning radius?
