Talking Welcome to the chapter: mbellerive

Give a warm welcome to our latest addition to the chapter: mbellerive

He's got a 2005 F250, 6.0 that he's having some major issues with, the thread is here : https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ut-losses.html

6 Liters might as well be the engine on the space shuttle to me. Anybody else got any ideas?

Re Welcome

Tojosky,

Thank you for the welcome. I was hoping to connect with some other local Ford owners to learn more about Ford Trucks in General and the 6.0L in particular. What would be a huge help is if anyone knows a good reliable Ford mechanic knowledgable of the 6.0L for some repairs.

Again, thanks for the welcome...

Marty

I'm not sure if that's an insult or a compliment...but either way he's in the right area to get help. I'm not sure where he's at...but he's getting hosed on that issue by that dealership.

Guess I need to type faster... At any rate, where in the state are you? I'm far from an expert...but I've learned a couple of things about the love/hated 6.0L...some of them I've learned the hard way (fuel pressure) and others I've picked up in the "6 leaker forum". It maybe morning...but I'm sure you'll get some good ideas what's wrong with your truck. I'll see if I can find the test procedure for the FICM; it isn't hard. And if you'll willing to do a little solider...the repairs aren't bad either.

Zhilton, Thanks for that. I'm comfortable with soldering, spent 15+ years calibrating and repairing Test Measuring & Diagnosis Equipment (TMDE for the military types), so that's not an issue. What about programming a new FICM? That was a concern...

It's ok Jeff. We know you like to keep it simple.

I don't think Jeff owns a Ford diesel, does he? The '53 doesn't count...Ford didn't offer a "spark-less" engine in '53.

Getting back to the FICM issue, and I don't know if this has been posted yet...but here's a link to how to test your FICM.

Power Hungry Performance Forum

You'll most likely have to become a member of Power Hungry (free membership) to see it, but it was helpful to me last summer when I was chasing a dead miss. Turned out to be two toasted injectors (low fuel pressure). After I get the kids off to school, I'll go over to the other thread and see what the latest & greatest is.

So in the space shuttle fuel is injected and an explosion occurs, in the 6.0, the process is drawn out over a couple of years..

Hey Jeff, got any more of those flameproof undergarmets?

Wow, what a rough crowd. I think it all boils down to y'all are jealous of a motor that is not only smaller than it's predecessor (cough, 7.3L) and makes more power...but gets better fuel mileage. But hey, I'm a big boy...I can take this load of BS y'all are shoveling out.
