fuel filter gasket leak / low fuel

I've run my truck way low on fuel a few times over the last years, and almost each time thereafter, I sprung a fuel leak from the filter gasket after I re-filled her. Each time I also replaced the filter and gasket, but this time I still have a leak. I brake cleaned and gunked around the fuel bowl, the drain, and in the valley, but I still get a drip down the rear of the block. Is there any other place I can hunt for a leak, or am I replacing the fuel bowl gaskets again. Also, is now the right time for e fuel bowl delete?

It could be that your drain valve is leaking.

What fuel filters are you using? Are they the factory filter with a separate cap or the kind with a built in cap?

I use the OEM style and the factory cap. I have never had a problem sealing them from leaking. I do coat the wedge shaped seal with a thin coat of clean oil, this keeps them from pinching when tightened down. Also many times everyone thinks they need to be really tight. An o-ring type seal can actually be damaged if over torqued.

woodnthings has you taken care of. If you do indeed need the drain o rings, Bob at dieselorings can get you some flourosilicone rings which are MIL SPEC and top notch quality. The ULSD fuel the gov't mandated a few yrs back seems to dry some of the o rings out faster. The flouro-x type are very tolerant of tough environments

x2 on the flourosilicone rings from dieselorings. My factory original ones were letting the drain drip every now and then at random times. Replaced over a year and a half ago and no more leaks. A little tight working in that area but it was a 30 minute install for me.
