Where's a good place to tap the A/C circuit for triggering the relay when ac is on?
Johnny, are you running the fan on high only? Was low speed not enough?
I grabbed the 12V+ from between the low pressure switch and the clutch so it'll cycle when the compressor does. Worked perfect. I ran the fan on low speed only and setup the temps for turn on the same way my Tbird's PCM had it setup. I was going to setup an emergency overtemp curcuit using a fixed thermal switch and a high-amp relay for the high-speed and have it come on at approx 230 degrees.
The technology has been out there for almost a decade and the car companies are still in bed with the petroleum companies screwing us.
25+ years ago Popular Science published Smokey Unich's report of taking a 2.2 liter Chrysler four cylinder and getting 345 reliable horsepower at 45 mpg on pump gas. He was just scratching the surface and Chrysler then proceeded to kill it. God only knows what could be done with a diesel.
Google alcohol fuel and read the reports coming out of the top engineering schools for the last decade. 30% better fuel mileage and 30% more power from alky on engines specifically designed to run alky with no power adders. Add superchaging/turbocharging and the sky's the limit These flex fuel engines are a joke. You can make 4-5 liters of alky in your garage for $1.25/gallon/day with an old 30 gallon hot water tank.

I'm a little late responding, but here goes anyway....
Back during the '74 oil embargo there was a shop near Daytona Beach that made the national news with a turbo diesel that he was putting into several different (small) cars and getting over 100MPG with it. The cost was about $7,000 -- a huge sum when there were still new cars that could be bought for under $2,000, many of the street cars were around $4,000, and gas was still under a buck. But the technology existed back then. He ran into trouble with the EPA as his 100MPG diesel didn't meet the federal emission standards.
Always wondered what happened to him and that motor.
And there are, of course, a lot of questions that don't get decent answers.
-- If aftermarket shops can get you 5-20% mileage improvement with a chip reprogramming, why isn't that a factor option?
-- If a 10-20% mileage improvement is available with a different exhaust, why aren't more factory delivered cars a bit noisier than they are?
-- If a neumatic valve motor can generate more horsepower and turn 15,000RPM, why does Detroit continue to deliver physically cammed motors with their inherent 20% power loss to drive the valve train?
I have a 03' CC F250 SD with 37' tires and a lift kit. 2wd and I dont know what gearing (second owner) I am getting 11.695 MPG round trip 60miles to work round trip. I am considering dropping to 35' tires and losing the body lift the PO installed. I drive 55-65 most times and try to keep it very even throttle wise.
02 CC 2x4 auto 3.73, we get 10.5-12 in town and 13-14.5 on hwy. Towing my LJ Jeep from Chantilly VA to the Outer Banks got 10 even. Truck has 170,### miles and burns a quart of oil ever 3000 miles. I put 1/2 quart in ever 1200-1600 miles to keep it toped off.
I have a 2005 Ford F250 Super Cab Longbox with the 5.4 and 3.73 rears. The truck has over 110,000 miles on it and I get around 11.5 driving it to school and back everyday but that is like 40-55 most of the way. I drive backroads that I know like a highway and that helps once I'm in 5th gear. I got 16.5 on the highway one time but I haven't driven much highway since then to check it again.
I have a '03 f350 5.4 4x4 crew cab long bed. 98k miles. All stock except for K&N filter and Predator tuner. The tuner woke this truck up so much that it does not even seem to be the same truck. Much better throttle response. I went on a 180 mile one way trip to buy a utility work top for my truck. On the way there I got 17.6 mpg. With the top on I got 13 on the way back. Definetly need to take the top off for trips! Tuner was worth every penny ($169). I think the truck was getting around 10-11 before i installed it.
