Shiftless Tranny

Hello all. It's been a long time but my new to me 02 F150 4x4 truck finally has a problem. I had the tranny serviced by Ford recently, oil filter etc, and now it is hesitant to go into reverse and when it does it really goes BANG! Ford says i should not give it any gas until it is in gear but sometimes you cannot tell whether or not it is and of couse the engine revs without going any where and then it does go into gear with the bang, which cannot be good for the trans. It certainly isn't good for my nerves. Any ideas?

Cheers, Stevieray.

Sounds like it's low on fluid, was it ok before the service?, why did you have it serviced?

The truck was in for a stripped spark plug so I had the oil changed and all fluids checked and thought it would be good to have trans serviced too considering the age of the truck (330,000km) The problem started after servicing then went away for a while and now is back again. I will check the fluid level right away.
Thanks, SR

If the fluid is low put a bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix in there, it cant hurt, the stuff works miracles.

Does the problem only happen when everything is cold ? My last truck did that, and it was a problem until it warmed up a bit. It did get worse though, and I changed the torque converter.

I might mention though, that although mine started the way yours is now, it eventually would unlock just going down the road. That's when I changed it.

Weird thing on the trans though, the truck was a '94, which I bought new, and the trans was a '92 ? Explains why parts were always wrong the first time.
